FAQ

Moving In

When is my rent due?

Rent is paid through preauthorized debit. Payment will be deducted from your bank account on the 1st day of every month. If the 1st lands on a weekend or holiday, then your rent will be processed on the first business day following. There will be a $50 fee for all NSF or late payments.

When is garbage day?

The City of Barrie collects garbage bi-weekly on Mondays. Each unit is allowed to place 2 bins or bags at the curb. If you have more than this, you will need to purchase bag tags from Sobeys, Home Hardware, etc.

Recycling is picked up EVERY Monday. There is no limit to the amount of recycling you put out – but it must be sorted into the grey and blue bins provided, or in clear garbage bags if you decide to purchase those.

If garbage/recycling accumulate to the point that Caprata needs to make a dump run, all tenants will be billed equally for the cost.

Do I have to mow the lawn or shovel snow?

No, to mowing the lawn. Yes, to shoveling snow – however we will provide both shovels and salt for tenants to use.

Do I have to clean the house?

Yes, you do! We want everyone to get along with their roommates and live in harmony. Clean your own mess. Wash your own dishes (manually or use the dishwasher). Do not leave dirty dishes or empty bottles/cans anywhere in the house. This creates unpleasant aromas and is an invitation for bugs and mice. We suggest that you arrange a house cleaning schedule for all common areas and for taking out garbage each week. For a minimal fee, we can arrange to have your common areas cleaned for you by our cleaner.

Moving Out

What time do I have to be moved out by?

On the date your lease ends (typically the 26th of the month), you have until 12pm to have all of your belongings out of the house.

Do I have to clean up?

Yes, you are required to completely empty and clean your bedroom and have all common areas (kitchen, bathroom, living rooms) in the same condition you found them in when you arrived. All of your food (check fridge, freezer, cupboards), dishes, toiletries, furniture, appliances, etc. need to leave with you.

What do I do with garbage?

Please ensure that all garbage (including food) is removed from the house. If anything is left after you leave, we will bill you accordingly for any dump runs made by us.
